2006 World Series of Poker is over

The 2006 World Series of poker has now wrapped up. You will be able to view all the WSOP Events on ESPN. With the main event being aired on tuesday and wednesday nights at 8 and 9pm (EST). There is sure to be some great action as the WSOP Main Event is always sure to bring the best  and worst out of many poker players.

World Series of Poker Main Event August 28th

The World Series of Poker Main Event will be aired on ESPN on August 28th. It will start at 8pm (EST) on Tuesday. This is the biggest poker tournament in the world and is always a great poker tournament to watch as every professional poker player plays. Also many celebrity’s also played in the event.

Jamie Gold has won the 2006 WSOP and has taken home a purse of $12 million dollars. The biggest payday of any sport event in the world. He has bested a massive field of 8,773 and played well during the final table. He used his big stack to his advantage by stealing pots and playing aggressive. He is sponsored by Bodog.net who bought him into the tournament and now this Hollywood Agent has a new career at the poker table.

I wasn’t able to watch the end of the Main Event but the results for the last 3 players out are Allen Cunningham in 4th taking home $3,628,513. 3rd place comes Michael Binger and he wins $4,123,310. Second place was Paul Wisicka and he takes home $6,102,499.

Rhett Butler Eliminated in 5th Place at WSOP.

Rhett Butler has just played in a hand with Allen Cunningham and Jamie Gold. Rhett went all-in pre flop and both Cunningham and Gold called. The flop came blanks with a J. They both check. After the turn card Gold bet’s 2 million and Cunningham folds. Gold turns over KJ and Rhett holds pocket 4’s.  The river came a blank and Rhett Butler was eliminated in 5th place for $3,216,182.

The table has been recently been playing pretty slow. But recently Michael went all-in with pocket k’s and after thinking for a couple minutes Paul calls the all-in with KQ. This miss-step by Paul who covered Michael and doubled him up and really put him back in the game and he now has lots of chips to play with.

Richard Lee Eliminated by Gold in the WSOP Main Event.

Richard Lee has been eliminated and takes 6th place. He was eliminated by Gold who held pocket Q’s while Lee had J’s. It was all-in pre-flop and the flop came 3-K-K, the turn a 6 and the river a 10. Richard Lee will take home $2,803,851.

Doug Kim Eliminated

Doug Kim was eliminated by Paul Wisacka. Doug Kim had 99 while Paul Wisacka won with a pair of Q’s. Doug Kim is out and gets $2,391,520 for 7th place.

Michael went all in and Gold called with with his pocket kings. When they both flipped over the cards they both had pocket k’s. No flush with the help of the community cards and so they split the pot.

Erik Friberg Eliminated from the WSOP Main Event Table

Erik Fridberg has been eliminated by Jamie Gold. Fridberg went all in with JJ and Gold called with QQ. The flop came 3-7-2, the turn was a 10 and the river a Q. Erik Fridberg was eliminated in 8th place and will receives $1,979,189.
